Armenia shows lowest inflation rate in CIS

Armenia’s annual inflation was 8.9% year-on-year in May. This was
the lowest inflation rate in the CIS in the reporting period, the CIS
Statistical Committee reports.
The average inflation rate in the
CIS was 17%. Price rise was 1.3% in Armenia in May. The CIS Statistical
Committee says inflation hit a new high in the CIS in January-May 2008.
The highest inflation rate was recorded in Tajikistan (27.5%).
Relatively high inflation rates were recorded in Ukraine (25.8%),
Kyrgyzstan (24.2%), Azerbaijan (19.2%), Kazakhstan (19%), Moldova
(15.4%) and Belarus (13.9%).
Inflation in Russia was 13.6%
year-on-year in May (1.4% in May). Inflation in Georgia was 11.5% (0.7%
in May). No information is given on Turkmenistan and Uzbekistan.
