Armenian economy grows by 8.8 percent in Jan-May

Armenian economy has expanded by 8.8% in January-May 2010 if compared to the first five months of 2009, the country’s National Statistical Service reported. In terms of money, the GDP amounted to 1.016.8 trillion Drams. The National Statistic Service said the GDP in May grew by 13.4% from April.

In the first five months of 2009 Armenian economy plunged by 15.7%. The government budget for 2010 has set a 1.2% GDP growth.

The National Statistic Service said also the inflation rose to 7.6%. The year-on-year consumer prices index rose by 5.3%. The government has projected a 4% (±1,5%) inflation rate for 2010. ($1 – 372.48 Drams). -0-
