Armenian and Chinese government officials to discuss possible Chinese investments in Armenian economy

Armenian and Chinese government officials will discuss today possible Chinese investments in the Armenian economy during the sixth session of the bilateral intergovernmental commission that has convened in Yerevan.
‘Despite high-level political and economic ties between Armenia and China Chinese investments in the Armenian economy are not large. Their total amount from 1991 to 2011 is $1.3 billion,’ a deputy Armenian economy minister Ara Petrosian said today. According to official figures, there are 41 joint Armenian-Chinese companies.
Armenian-Chinese trade has doubled over the last three years to $436 million, according to Ara Pertrosian, who is the Armenian cochairman of the Armenian-Chinese intergovernmental commission. In 2010 the trade grew by 44.4% from 2009 with Armenian exports to China jumping by 73.6% to $321 million and imports from China rising by 42.6% to $405.8 million. ($1- 371.12 Drams). -0-
