Foreign investments in Armenian real economy grow by 24.2% in jan-sept.

The inflow of foreign investments in the real sector of Armenia’s economy grew by 24.2% in Jan-Sept. 2011, compared with the same period a year earlier, to $586.7 million less credits received by state-governing institutions and banks, the National Statistical Service of Armenia reported.

The volume of direct investments amounted to approximately $462.5 million, a 32.6% increase from the same period in 2010. According to official data, 26.92% of the total investments or 29.31% of direct foreign investments were channeled into production of base metals.

Besides, 21.49% of total direct investment was directed into the telecommunications sector and 15.14% into the production and distribution of electricity, gas, hot water and steam.

The largest foreign investors in Armenia in January - September 2011 were Russia ($283.8 million), France (about $77 million), United States (more than $40.6 million). Together these countries accounted for 48.4% 13.1% and 6.9% of all foreign investment respectively. ($ 1 - 381.22 drams). -0-
