Investments in Armenia’s real sector reduce 12.9% in Jan-March 2010

Investments in Armenia’s real sector reduced 12.9% in Jan-March 2010, compared with the same period a year before, to $162.2 million, excluding loans taken from state-governing agencies and the banking sector, National Statistical Service of Armenia reports.
Direct investments totaled $116.9 million – 16.1% less than the 2009 result.
Direct investments made up 72.1% of investments in the real sector Armenian economy against 74.8% in 2009.
According to the statistical report, 42.17% of total investments were invested in the real sector or 30.99% of direct investments invested in generation and distribution of electric power, gas, hot water and steam in Jan-March 2010.
Investments in telecommunications made up 25.28% and investments in air transport 11.18% of total amount.
Russia invested $51.9 million, France $33.7 million and the Netherlands $31.4 million in Armenia in the first quarter of this year.
Their shares in total investments in the real sector were 32%, 20.8% and 19.3% accordingly. -0---
