Macroeconomic indicators to exceed planned level

Buoyed by ongoing economic recovery that accelerated in April with
GD P increasing by 7.2 percent year on year during the first four months
of this year, Armenian prime minister Tigran Sarkisian said the
government is very likely to revise upward its earlier predicted
microeconomic indicators and forecasts for 2010.
Speaking to
journalists after a meeting of CIS prime ministers in Russian Saint
Petersburg last weekend, he recalled that the IMF ahs also revised
upward its forecast of global economic recovery trends. He said this
will create a good condition for Armenia to boost its economy.
The
IMF has revised its economic growth forecast for Armenia for 2001 from
1.8% to 4%. Tigran Sarkisian said the recovering Russian economy,
forecasted to go up by 6% this year, is a another guarantee that
Armenian economy will continue to grow.
According to government data,
Armenian economy contracted by 14.4 percent in 2009 after more than a
decade of robust growth. -0-
