ARKA, 01.09.2011
Armenian Prime Minister Tigran Sargsyan, speaking Tuesday at a meeting of the Armenian foreign ministry’s administration and heads of the country’s diplomatic missions abroad, presented economic situation in the country and the government’s programs to the meeting participants.
Summarizing the results of the first half of this year, the premier said the government expected 4.6% full-year GDP growth in 2011.
He said that inflation in Armenia has already subsided from 10% to 5%. This lays groundwork for curbing inflation in 2012.
Speaking about the government’s top-priority programs, Sargsyan singled out among them those aimed at improvement of business environment.
In 2011, the government implemented some changes in tax and customs administration. It also introduced a system of e-reports to limit business people’s contacts with tax inspectors.
“Electronic registration of any company in Armenia takes 15 minutes,” the premier said. “This is one of the most important factors of improvement of business environment.”
Other programs are focused on adjustment of customs functions to best European standards and introduction of an intellectual property protection system.
The government is also doing whatever necessary to lessen corruption. The reformation program implies specification of functions and responsibilities of ministries, inspections, state noncommercial organizations and agencies.--0--
