Swift transfers to Armenia through commercial banks without opening accounts totaled AMD 108,215 million in the second quarter of 2008, the press office of the Central Bank of Armenia reports. This amount exceeded 11.1 times the transfers sent abroad.
The number of transfers to Armenia was 420,229. The CBA report says net inflow of money transfers grew 1.2 times or by AMD 17,690 million, compared with the second quarter of 2007.
Net inflow of money transfers totaled AMD 98,463 million in the 2nd Q 2008.
Organizations operating money transfers gave AMD 1.02 billion to their clients in Armenia and sent AMD 0.09 billion overseas in the 2nd Q 2008. Money transfers sent to individuals by means of SWIFT international system grew by AMD 16 billion and reached AMD 67 billion. As a whole, the money transferred to individuals in Armenia though commercial banks and organizations grew 25 in the 2nd Q 2008, compared with the same quarter a year earlier, and reached AMD 176 billion.
