Gurgen joined Grant Thornton in 1999. Since 2006 he has led the advisory division, overseeing a large number of missions in corporate finance, transaction support and general management advisory fields. Currently Gurgen is the CEO of Grant Thornton Consulting CJSC, which was founded in 2012 by spinning off the Advisory department of Grant Thornton Armenia into a separate business entity, specialized in providing business consulting services, business risk services, cybersecurity, recovery & reorganization and transactional advisory services to its clients.
Since 2010 Gurgen took the position of the Managing Partner of the two new established member firms in Tajikistan and Kyrgyzstan and has been in the frontier of active development of Grant Thornton presence in Central Asia and other CIS region countries.
Having extensive experience in the CIS region, Gurgen Hakobyan was in 2014 appointed to the positon of the Regional Head for Member Firm Development - CIS and Mongolia in Grant Thornton International and since then has been actively involved in advancement of Grant Thornton member firms in CIS.
Gurgen is an expert in management consulting and business advisory. Throughout his career, he has participated and led a number of consulting missions in corporate finance, transaction support and carried out business, investment and marketing plans, feasibility and sector studies, and fund-raising assignments for different sectors of economy.
Gurgen oversees general administration within the company, as well as commercial and marketing communications activities of the firm.
Gurgen holds a Master's degree in Business Administration from the American University of Armenia and is a member of the Chartered Institute of Marketing.
